About
Jacksons Consulting is the professional practice of Chris Jackson, a specialist in superyacht coatings and finishing quality with four decades of experience across application, inspection, and consultancy.
Chris Jackson began his career working on high-performance racing yachts, including those prepared for the America’s Cup. In 1991 he founded Jacksons Superyacht Finishers, which over the following 25 years faired and painted in excess of 100 superyacht projects across the UK, Norway, Italy, and France.
Since 2016 Chris has worked as an independent coatings consultant and surveyor, undertaking inspections across new builds, refits, warranty claims, and insurance investigations — inspecting more than 100 vessels across Europe and beyond.
Professional philosophy
Quality in superyacht coatings depends on understanding materials, methods, and the conditions under which decisions are made. A finish is only as good as the process behind it — and that process involves people, time, and commercial pressure as much as it involves paint.
Chris Jackson brings to every commission a unique perspective formed by having worked on all sides of the process — as the application contractor responsible for delivering the finish, and as the consultant responsible for assessing it for owner’s team and shipyards alike. That breadth of experience informs every inspection, every report, and every piece of advice given.
The opinion given is always the opinion held — irrespective of who is paying the bill.
Chris Jackson works both independently and in collaboration with established marine consultancy organisations. A significant portion of his consulting work is undertaken through Wrede Consulting, active across major superyacht construction and refit projects.
